This is the lot, taken with my back to the view. It’s from an angle that Google Earth shouldn’t be able to recognize, to try to be on the safe side.
I read this horror story once where some blogger took a picture from her office building, and this guy was able to pinpoint where it was coming from, and he showed up – eek!
I don’t like Google Earth for just that reason, it’s such a potential invasion of privacy and safety.
It would have been really fun to show you everything!
I’ll do the best I can as we go along, but we won”t even START doing the subterranean garage until next year.
And then cross your fingers for me that it doesn’t rain and fill the concrete pit up!
That held up my neighbors for 4 months when they did theirs!!!
Met the interior Desinger lady face-to-face for the first time yesterday, and feel like I will be in VERY good hands.
She warned me though that with all the things that I like and want to have, (like the extensive built-in bookcases and Toto Neorest 550 toilets in each of the bathrooms and 30″ deep countertops in the baths, kitchen and laundry room) in order to get a very accurate idea of cost, we should get an estimate from the general contractor pretty soon.
Yikes. Cross your fingers for me on THAT too.
Evidently there are things called ‘hard costs’ which include the general contractor and the landscaping; and then ‘soft costs’ which include the architect’s fees and the structural and civil engineer, permits, and interior decorating, etc.
You have to combine the two to get the true bottom line.
I am truly thrilled at the ‘team’ so far. Everybody involved has an outstanding reputation for high quality work, and they know one-another and have worked happily together before.
We should have the basic schematic ironed out by next week, (maybe I can cut out 250 square feet) and then maybe I’ll have some exterior elevations to show you by the end of the month:)
Hope you each have a good week, and ((hugs))

Animal and Animal Protection:
sounds lovely and it’s so exciting!
hugs, bee

Thank you, Bee! It IS hugely exciting, making a dream become something tangible.
It’s funny. My life hasn’t turned out anything like I ever dreamed it would when I was 20 or even 30 or 40.
But the dreams I have now ARE coming true, and I am so grateful.
It sounds like it will be just beautiful. There is a lot of work ahead for you!
Yes and Yes:)
Thank you, Patti – Happy Tuesday to you!
In order to post pics from your phone without sending out a GPS signal of your location:
Go into Settings
Click on ‘Location Services’
Turn to OFF
This is especially important for anyone who post pics of thier kids from their phone.
Thank you Lauren, that is very helpful!
Progress! I like that…and I know you like that even more:) Good luck with this monumental task.
Big hugs…
I”m glad things are going well! I think maybe I divulge too much on my blog…I haven’t had a stalker scare like that yet, thank goodness.
One of the reasons I don’t post pictures on my blog. Yikes!
It’s going to be so exciting when things start moving along. It’s funny how just a few months ago you posted about one day building your dream house and now it’s actually happening!
It will be so exciting watching the house take shape.
Look forward to more “not-too-revealing-photos” in the future
Oh my! What a glorious lot, Cinderella. Underground parking? Built in bookcases? You are singing a beautiful song on this one.
I cannot wait so see it take shape. You’ve also really set me dreaming about my someday home too.
YAY! Exciting stuff right there. (And I totally don’t blame you on the restricted view. That is SCARY that someone could find you like that.)
I’m so glad that things are starting to come together for you. You totally deserve it! I can’t wait to see how this turns out!
Yikes, never thought of the possibility of the pictures being able to pinpoint locations; although I do try to be discreet with posting pics – but good to think about!
Lot looks beautiful….sounds like things are coming together & you’re off to a great start. Congrats!
I feel like I’m watching the Taj Mahal be built!
That’s a lovely piece of land you got yourself, doll. Bravo.
I hope all goes well
